All in jest. Brutus Maximus Nomadus Gassimus!!

I put a digital micrometer on the new and improved 92145-1295 Meanstreak, Nomad, Classic spring. It is .06705

This was from CJ's original post last year:
OEM: .06405"
Meanie: .06705"
Barnett: .0725"

So the new spring is equivalent to the old Meanie spring in material but with a shape similar to the Barnett.

Either way, I will stick with the new and, apparently, improved Meanie spring if not going to the MT-25. So while the Gadget instructions are still great, I am not sure that the old 92145-1449
Meanie part number is still valid for the 1600s.

Today a friend and I gave Rick a hand and got his clutch done just in time for his upcoming trip. It was not that big a job but some things learned.

One is you do not necessarily need to completely remove the right lower frame member on the 1600. The 2 allan bolts at the rear frame need to come out but fully loosening others allowed for the bottom bolts on the clutch cover to wiggle out. If you are using a torque wrench going back in those bottom 2 are done by feel. Otherwise Gadget's directions are very good.

I drilled a bolt board for the project and that is in storage for when my M-25 goes in later this year.

The old clutch plate did not look that worn but Rick says he loves the feel of the Barnett as expected and he knows for sure it's good for the long trip to Alberta. Peace of mind is a big deal after all.

All that hammer says is true. I LOVE it!! Oh and when you loosen the top frame bolts watch the nuts on the back or they'll drop down into the abiss. I just loosened mine off.
Thanks again for your help and support Dave. My thanks to my new friend Tom, for helping out too.
Now it's off to Alta. to have the fairing and H.D. trunk installed. Talk at you'all in about a week. It would be nice to stay dry, but I'm expecting to leave in the rain tomorrow morning.
Ciao

I told you you'd like the Barnett spring.

Yes you did Scott. And you were right. AND ! with no learning curve. Not sure who told me that or when I read it. Definitely not true though. I'd recommend it to anyone.
I ordered right from Barnett and delivered it was under $20.00 with shipping.
