Engine bogging down

Nope, I actually, shifted down and I could tell a real difference in the lack of acceleration. Then it clear up about another 300m after the hill.

I've already tossed the fuel pump, fuel pressure cookie (Pg.3) he doesn't seem to wanna bite at that. I still figure it should go to the shop, let them check the fuel pressures... but not my dime.

Another thing I would do is take that fuel processor out (for now) one less possible cause.

I really do appreciate all your input. I am trying to rule one thing at a time without going to the expense of taking it in to the shop and paying them almost $100/hr to diagnose this INTERMITTENT problem. I have talked to the shop and they have NO idea as to what is going on and with it intermittent, they said it is a shot in the dark even when they get it there. So I would rather tell you all what it is doing and try the more simpler things to rule the obvious out.

I all hope you understand.

Engine bogging down

Ok, I am late into the game on this but....

Usually a miss, stumble, bog under load or at idle is an ignition problem. Surges, stahls, eratic idles and such are fuel/air mixture problems. But any problem can be caused by many many things so underline the word "USUALLY".

I read that when it "boged" you thought you smelled gas and I see that you Vance and Hine pipes. The V&H pipe has no crossover so each muffler serves only one cylinder. Look and them. Both should have medium grey deposits. And if one is dark that is the one that is failing and start checking things like looking at the plug and checking plug wires and coil conections on that cylinder.

If both are very light or pure black then maybe it is a fuel/air problem. I think that is less likely but if that is the case the first thing I'd suspect that the PCIII needs to be reloaded or the loose conections may have ruined it.

And if you decide fuel pump for some strange reason go to the parts section of this forum. There is a Mitsubusi auto fuel pump that is interchangeable with our that is about 1/4 the cost of the Kaw version.

Seeing as you have 10,000 suggestions so far, I figure one more won't hurt. ;)
When I installed my wife's tach on her 900 LT it seems I didn't get one of the connections to the coil tight. Her bike would do exactly what yours is doing. Have you installed a tach or other electrical accessories lately?

Does it happen when the bike is cold?

IF not then check the coils and the pick ups. Heat can and will cause them to malfunction.

It seems to perform better in the cold. I think it is a heat related issue too.

If thats what you think Rhys, perhaps it is the coils. Check those wires as we have mentioned before.

honestly, at this point, with this much different information, you really should take it to a shop for at least a diagnostic check.
