This area of AZ would be very comfortabls. Notice I did not suggest Phoenix. Flagstaff is too crowded and traffic is horrible. Sedona is hot and full of tourbuses and is quite expensive. The place I'm suggesting has elevation and forests. It's not too far from the continental divide in New Mexico. Beautiful country.

I have been up in the Cody area for work. It is a very interesting area with what looks like some great rides. One thing for sure about the area, it gets dark you had better be off the bike. The deer come out of the wood work. I left the area late in the afternoon and when it hit dark the deer were everywhere. I can't remember how many ran out in front of me or were just along the edge.

That's the same hotel we are looking at. Does it have a good gathering area? The gal I spoke with there said they have picnic tables and such. We can't book anything until after the first of the year. What week in July should we do? We dont want to compete with the Red Lodge Rally...

We also want to make sure we have it early enough not to compete with the traffic going to and from Sturgis as well.

This years Red Lodge Rally is July 17-19. I would assume to be that same time of year.

Yes. We do not want to be going the same time as any other rallies.

Yes, they have an area out front with tables that are covered and have shade trees. It's not a 5 star place but the rooms are clean . we've stayed here for the last 3 years. It's also within walking distance of the Museum. Also if i remember right Cody has a rodeo every night during the summer months.

The Beartooth rally usually the third or fourth weekend in July if I remember right. Here is where I look for the date.

Yes it does. You think that we can get Brad to ride a bull? Probably easier than riding a Victory.

I think I found the perfect place!!

Just got off the phone with the owner.
  • Very bike friendly.
  • Has 21 rooms and 4 cabins.
  • Walk to Downtown Red Lodge
  • Riding distance to Beartooth, Cody, Yellowstone.
  • Owned by Larry and his wife.
  • 2 Acres. Lots of gathering areas and shade.
  • Rags and Bike wash supplies provided.
  • Bike wash stations set up on site
  • Real Hot breakfast supplied.
  • Will arrange for a couple Tepees if we want
  • Will also provide Lunch and Dinner or some combo as we need/want
  • Will arrange for live music 1 or 2 nights if we want.
  • Small enough that we could occupy 100 % so our parties do not disturb
  • Will work up group rate depending on how many people and nights

Larry said there is a pretty large Kawasaki Dealer nearby.

The Lodge is already sold out the 3rd week of July next year (Bike Rally). I say we pick some dates next year and I will have him work up rates and block it for now.

Nice guy....Check it out...

Just did a Google Street View of the place. It looks pretty perfect for what we like to do. Only an hour ride to Cody from there and a good loop through Jellystone is possible from there as well. Good find Greg, and they sound very accommodating...especially if they will block us out the place now for next year! Would the first week in July work for everyone? I know the 4th is on that Monday, but that's just one less vacation day I have to take...!

And from this photo....I can see there are no rooms on the third floor with steps to climb at 5000' plus elevation. I like it already if I can get one of those ground floor rooms...!!

We had breakfast in Red Lodge once, before riding the Beartooth on our way home from Custer in 2009. There ain't a lot there....but food, drink and good friends are really all we need, eh? Might even get a few Canucks to join us....!
