They work great in my 2005 1600 fi. They don't cross reference because NGK don't make an Iridium plug in the recommended heat rang for our engines, but the NGK Iridium plugs being discussed in this thread are only one heat range colder (which means they dissipate heat a little quicker), and they work great.

That could also explain some who have experienced hard starting. Hmmmm.

I have been away on a rally and I am now going to update my 1st post with "I did notice an improvement". I would sometimes notice slight pinging on long uphill runs and that's gone with the Iridiums. Smoother throttle too. It has not affected starting at all.

Correct: improved starting, idle, throttle response and reduced pinging for me.

I read all this and went out and install them on my bike as well. WOW! Better mileage, more power, faster starts, no pinging, and the best is, I can run regular unleaded now!
I bought my plugs at Advance Auto Parts. $25 for the four of them. Best money spent in a long time! |

I am hoping for increased MPG like some have experienced.
I got a pretty consistent 39-40 mpg on my ride back from BC in July but expended a tank of gas on on a highway trip since then. I assume that's about average for most although I've seen some claim up to 44-45 mpg. Riding locally with the new iridiums I just got about 33 MPG yesterday. That could be normal for local riding. The first good day we have I'll do a minimum 100 mile ride and see what I get.

I've been running the E3's for about 2 years now. Also have the TFI processor and I routinely get around 38-40 mpg. Starts great, plenty of power, smooth idle, ALL 2-up riding. Mine is an 07 with right at 40,000 miles on it now. Owned it from new and did have the familiar pinging problem as others have mentioned. That's all but gone with the E3's and the TFI.

Mpg using these plugs or any others depends on so many factors. For me mpg is about the same prior to installing these plugs 41-44 depending on how aggressive I am on the throttle, back roads or interstate, speed, flat or mountain terrian, 1 up or 2. What I have found is there is no hesitation, throttle is more responsive and starts easier. Very happy with the 28.00 investment.

OK. I have flirted with 89 octane but we are not dating yet.
