TFI Settings for 1500/1600 Nomad

I bought my cobra from someone who didn't like it. I am glad they didn't like it. My bike did ping very bad and seemed like it couldn't pull a hill or run over chewing gum, Now it runs great and has little more power, I am not getting better gas mileage though. Cyclecat and Doc are right each nomad seems to be set up different from the factory depending on what part of the country it is going to.

Is you exhaust and intake still totally stock? My 2007 is still stock with very bad pinging. I'm going to be adding the TFI that I bought several months ago as soon as the weather gets warmer. Did the cobra eliminate all of the pinging? What octane are you using now?
Thanks.
Glenn

Hi Doc, I am not familiar with the phrase "its a wash", please elaborate. I am a limey you know. Do you mean they equal each other out ?

I hate to be bold and answer for Doc but he ain't here,so yeah, that's what he was saying it's cold up there and the bike runs hot so there should be no problem. He knows better than using phrases like that on an international forum , he could have put your a$$ in a sling

I put the cobra on first and that stopped the pinging. Then I went back and added the caddman kit and gutted the goats bladder. The bike runs like a different bike and I have been running on the midgrades, I am going to try reg. as soon as the weather breaks

I doubt it, or they wouldn't run. The wasted fumes and spills are collected differently with the carbon canister and rebreathing from that part evenutually is the main difference so fas as I know.

I use the 93 octane gas, and the only time my '03 Nomad pings is if I hit the throttle hard in a 5th gear roll on....usually from say 65 mph and up. Other than that, she's always been quiet. I'm doing the Caddman mod this week and adding the TFI next weekend. I can't wait to see what she'll do now.

Ouch! If you swap out to the Caddman don't even think about running the engine with out that TFI... bad option..

And what exhaust is it you have? I can't tell in the sig pic, but I know it isn't a V&H. But it might be RH, and or a gutted stock set.

It is fine to set up for the Caddman so long as you don't fire that engine up for more than a few seconds.. These bikes IMO are some mighty lean in the first place as all stock.

I ran mine with an open filtered right side and no TFI for about a year...............I did put a resistor in the air temp sensor circuit to spoof it into thinking it was colder outside therefore ran a bit richer.......and change the TPS a little...............but they are all set up different...my bike was never as lean stock as some of these guys have described.

Guess I got lucky with the Nomad that picked me out to be it's owner.
