Hi everyone!! Just wanted to bump this up. Anyone new going to the rally??
Apparently B.D.doesn't have the balls to cross the line for the rally. Probably too far for him. I mean Scott has to cover for a colleague at work who's wife is having a baby,... I think that was his excuse......I mean reason, which is a very commendable. But com'on Brad ..... I can arrange to have your own iron in your room for you !!

Rickyboy, I'm thinking of heading out to the rally in July from Ontario. I see there is a host motel but I'd really prefer to camp, do you know of a campground close?

Gary
Take your pick. Here's what I found "googling" Camping in Canmore Alberta.

Love to have you come out. A real nice ride. Grab a few of the Bros. from out there and make up a convoy.

Hi Garry,

I don't think it is a typo and I'm just curious: You have put two hundred thousand kilometers on your 2009 Voyager or if you're not the original owner, somebody has in about 3 years.

May I ask how?

The more I think, the more curious I get:

- how many days do you go between oil changes? (do you have some thing like a quick connect drain hose that goes on to a custom oil drain fitting with a built-in non-return valve?)

- I'm guessing at least 3 sets of tires a year?

- I don't want to think about how many liters of gas you burn in a year...

Well it is still up in the air weather I can make the Rally, with it being mid-week in my busy season. I do have a trip planned to Northren Calf. and up the Oregon coast for the end of May, so that will be my big adventure this year.
Rickyboy it sounds like you will be making the Rally after all... this is great news!

Man...it just really sucks that you are one of the closest members to the rally, but may not be able to make any of it. VBA rallies are always mid-week to allow for long travel times on the bookend weekends. It allows participation from a larger geographic area, which is a good thing. It gives members the chance to meet others from the different regions. Most every rally I have attended required I take that entire week off....something I look forward to every year...!

Doesn't look like I'll be going to the Canmore Rally. I will probably take a trip to Washington State to visit family at about that time. Canada doesn't want former bad guys crossing their border with Arizona address and a passport. Which is odd since I went to Canada several times with a Washington State Enhanced Drivers License before moving to Arizona.

you sound as though you got a direct answer that they wouldn't let you cross the border. Yes? I have my doubts you'd have a problem. But if you've been told, you've been told I guess. Too bad !

Leadbelly,...WTF ? Have you ever heard of calling in sick for a few days?
Works every time for me. Com'on man, you're only a few hrs. away.
As for me, I am still not sure if I'm going to make it. But believe me if I can I will.

Yup, I'm the original owner of all 3 Vulcans, and riding them is easy.................I just put the key in and press 'start'.
8 or 9 oil changes and 5 or 6 tires a year depending on how many flats, and I have spent more on gas than the bike cost new.

Mark, you may want to work on getting a "pardon" that will pretty much allow you to cross the boarder in the future, they do take awhile... so I'm told.

Going to try to get out to Banff on Weds night (wife & I have a place there) then do the Thursday ride through Kananaskis and break off at Longview and head home to Calgary, if the Boss is cool with it., I'll trade a Stat day or work Sat . to make up.

My record looks worse than most. I understand the reasoning, less than 3% of those with multiple prison terms ever clean up their act. If they changed the rule to say, "Within the last 12 years", my record would be 100% clean. Pardons are not granted for all cases and its $200 just to get the ball rolling. If I am denied the pardon I still loose the $200. At that rate I'll wait to see who I can visit on this side of the line.

When I go to google maps and put in Coeur D Alene to Canmore it says "this road had tolls".
Does anyone know how much the toll is?

There are no tolls on the Canadian side, and having ridin' around but not through Coeur 'd Alene in 2011; ( Libby, MT - Sandpoint, ID - Newport, Wa - Spokane, Wa to Lewiston, ID ) I highly suspect there isn't any between Coeur 'd Alene and Canmore.
