It does appear the "technology" is the appeal to this group... which doesn't surprise me.
I had also read somewhere that BRP had done some work with BMW on an engine design for them at one time -- or at least a component to an engine. I am not sure if the beemers still use whatever they provided at that time in their engines now or not... but apparently this gave some credibility to BRP for the beemer-crowd. Sorry, but I cannot seem to find details on that... I just occasionally hear someone make brief reference to it. One problem that seems to be consistent with these things IS the technology. It seems much of the bike's functions are controlled by the computer... and there are constantly issues with the software settings. I hear where there are always updates for the owners to get. I assume if the "computer" every takes a dump... it would get real expensive to fix or replace. I didn't see where their extended warranty even covers it. Something to think about I guess...

To some small degree Daryl... I know the exact feeling you are describing. I have been there, only fortunately for me, I was one of the musicians.
The were panicking and running around with their heads cut-off trying to find and fix the problem. Only difference is... back then... nothing was computerized. So it typically was a solder-joint, broken wire, blown-fuse, or a cracked circuit-board. Sometimes it was as simple as a power-cord not plugged-in all the way. Once I remember a beer was spilled on the mixer... that didn't work out too well. ;)

What I can tell you is this: When everything works, it's f@#$ing incredible. When it doesn't, it sucks and if it's not under warranty, expect a nice bill. If you are ever near a BMW dealer, not only check out the K1600, but also a low suspension RT (Most have at least one in stock). I bet you'd like that even better. Losing a 300 lbs would transform the riding experience.

Are not all of them 3rd party? Personally, I believe they are the biggest sucker-sale item. Cash cow for the sellers. |

Sorry to highjack the thread, but you've piqued my interest! Of course, if we can go from Can Am to BMW, I think we can squeeze in a music question!

They have those little electric drum sets. You could fit one of those in your luggage.
