Slogan Contest TURNED Winners addresses for prizes!!
Not the Thanksgiving type of turkey, but let's talk honestly about our recent slogan contest.
Here are the facts: 1. As everyone knows, "The Vulcan Nation" submitted by glwilson came in first place in the voting for our VBA slogan. 2. Once it won, I sent an email to Brian at Kawa Corp asking that he get with his legal department and ask if we can use that slogan. In all probability, it's OK for us to use it because that wording (as far as I know) is not copyrighted. But, out of courtesy, I would like to get Kawa's blessing before we use it. Brian sent it in, but as legal department's go.... we haven't heard anything and don't know when they'll get back with us. If their legal department is anything like the legal department at my hospital where I work, a final decision may not even come forth. 3. I was notified by MarkClark57 not too long ago about his trip with a group of riders from the VRA... Vulcan Riders Association. He noticed that their slogan of "Good Friends, Good Rides, Good Times" is mighty close to our second place winner, "Hard bags, Good Times, Great Friends" which was submitted by you guessed it... MarkClark57. I'd like to move forward with our slogan campaign. We need one soon so that we can use it in print and online as well as on banners, etc for the upcoming rally's and beyond. To refresh your memory, here's how the voting stacked up several months ago: 1st Place - "The Vulcan Nation" 2nd Place - "Hard Bags, Good Times, Great Friends" 3rd Place - "Where Dreams Begin And Adventures Never End" 4th Place - "Where The Open Road Never Ends" 5th Place - "Where Baggers Are Boss" I'd like to cut to the chase and suggest that we use one of the bottom three entrys as a slogan and I'll send a prize to all five that sent them in. And, I'd like to take it further and suggest that we use the last slogan... "Where Baggers Are Boss" because, from a marketing standpoint... it's short, concise, explains how we feel and is not close to anything that anyone else has. I suggest that not because of who sent it in, but just from the slogan content itself. (The 3rd and 4th winning slogans are very good entry's also). So, tell me what your feelings are and let's do it in a calm, mature and dignified manner...LOL.

I'm all for "Calm", but I don't do "mature and dignified".
It's your call big guy. All of the first 4 sound close to something else. I don't think we want to be "VBA, Where we copy other stuff". BTW, I didn't know about VRA's slogan till after our contest had already ended.

ya know, when we had KawaNOW and it's slogan we didn't ask Kawasaki for their permission. In fact when you went to LV for their product unveiling they announced KawaNOW... I think your over reaching the legal issue. JMHO...

I don't know if as an associate member my vote even counts, but I'll throw my two cents into the pot. My vote is for #4 - "Where the open road never ends". Simple and sweet.

Hi Trip. Ultimately its your call....... but we had a vote and there was a winner.
The winner was not my choice by the way, just to clarify that. If Kawasaki is not getting back to you after you had the courtesy to inform them then my thought is to go ahead with The Vulcan Nation. Have you contacted Brian recently to see if he can speed up the process ? Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Where the open road never ends. That has a good sound to it.

As I sort of said before, you can use "We gotz bikez" (or whatever everyone else wants) and I'm still good with it. VBA and my bike are what counts when it comes down to it.

I really don't know why you worry so much about being fair Trip.
A fair is a place where one goes to ride on rides and play games. Being a member here from the git go I know how this is going to go. There will be opinions thrown back and forth, some of the thinner skinned will have their feelings hurt, others will not give an opinion and sit by the way side but when the final decision is made they will bitch about that decision. I personally chose "Where The Open Road Never Ends" in the first vote. But that is neither here nor there. You are the boss, pick whatever you think is good and go with that. No matter which is chosen, there will be a percentage who are not happy with it. They will get over it. Pick one and lets move on. By the way, how are those patches coming

Of course I will yell "FOUL"!!!!
A slight change to the popular-vote slogan would be to use "A Vulcan Nation" instead the "The Vulcan Nation" -- which would bypass any legal crap... but still remain within the "winning" slogan's intent. Just my two-cents of civil-minded intent...

They all sound good to me, but since this is the Vulcan Bagger Association, the phrase "Where Baggers Are Boss" seems to be the best fit overall for this particular group. So I say go with that, and like TC said, it'll be OK in the long run. On the other side, whatever is decided, I'm cool with it!
BTW Trip, I think your doing a helluva a job, keep it up!
