Nomad serial numbers

Hello, I was looking at my "Good Times Protection Plan" and noticed something strange(well to me), I noticed that my 2008 Nomad has a Vin number and an engine number. Mine are different!!!
Should these numbers be the same?

I believe it is normal to have two different numbers. One is stamped on the engine and the other is stamped on the frame.

Well then,.........that's GREAT!!!
I thought that when I had the work done to mine, they swapped it out with a used motor!
Thanks
PS. So how do you tell an original motor with original frame if they are different numbers?

That is normal as I think all VIN numbers and engine numbers are different.

You might be able to go to the Kawasaki site and put your VIN number in and it will show what your engine number should be. Not sure on that. If not you should be able to contact Kawasaki and give them the VIN number and they possibly could verify your engine number.

I honestly thought that the numbers were the same.
So how do you tell if someone has changed the engine out if you don't have access to Kawasaki????

It is like dropping a new engine in a car, if the engine was available in that year, probably no one can tell, if done right. Old HD thieves used to buy a legal frame and steel a bike with a good motor. Maw Kaw maybe able to tell you or you can call your local or State Police Auto Theft Div. and ask them. Oh and Veh ID No. go on the veh frame and engine numbers go on engines. They are rarely if ever made in the same building. Thanks for your time

When you buy a bike, write them down and keep them on record.
