Excitement building! I'm booked-are you ?

Just booked my room thru Thursday! WaaaaHoooooo !!!! The plan is to head out of Winston-Salem Tuesday morning..

It would be a blast to meet up and ride with anyone else travailing west.

I won't bore you with the details, but being able to take off and just "go" has been 30 years in the making. Guess we are all having to make a lot of pre-arraignments to make it all happen... but hey - the battle cry is -

"I don't need no stinking trailer.... MY RIDE IS A NOMAD!!!"

Not sure if I missed something or not. Where are you booked? Where are you headed when you say heading west?

I have been booked a few times but that wasn't a motel. Cost more than a motel also.

A whole 3 hours from Winston-Salem to Maggie Valley. I hope you don't need a trailer for that. Now maybe if you rode a Harley.... ::)

Excitement building! I'm booked-are you ?

Last time I was in Maggie Valley on a bike I landed up having an electrical short and spent a whole day sitting around a shop (after much searching to find someone to work on an Italian bike) while they traced down the short. (Moto Guzzi) Same bike broke down on me 2 other times while out - mechanical problems these times and told by Guzzi dealer these bikes prone to that problem that it has happened to him several times too...so got rid of it. Too bad it was a nice ride but can't stand wondering if the ride is gonna break down.

Nomad has been dependable since the day I drove it new out of the showroom in '05.

They sure are - that's Phoebe and Fern with little "Jackadoodle" Mia (the smartest of the 3 ;) ) Deb is the founder of Greyt Expectations http://www.greytexpectations.org/homepage.html and adopted out 200+ dogs in a 2 year period before turning the group over. They really are 40mph couch potatoes!

Hey Boom,

I assume you are referring to your booking at Maggie Valley. I know what you mean, I quit riding in 1968 and only get back in 2009 (41 Years)! So attending this year is one of the things on my "bucket list". Just being able to head off on my own and join up with you folks is really a dream come true for me...

Let's hope I don't get lost on the way :-/

I know they bring a lot of joy. I keep my fingers crossed that he will someday change his mind. He is still so heartbroken over our last dog he says he doesn't want to go thru that hurt again. I've looked on the web site for the greayhound adoptions out of West Memphis Ark as they have a greyhound racing park over there....there are so many adorable doggies needing a home...your Deb did a great service and I know it was rewarding to you all.

Unwind, I know what he means; we had a Boxer for 10 3/4 years and he was our baby (we never had kids). After he went we just couldn't bear the thought of another dog. It took almost 5 years before we got another one and we really fell in love with her. Just takes time but we still miss our Boxer (Tyson).

That's why we have more than one. Our Greys especially always love having buddies to pal around with.

From experience over many years, I can say that while it always hurts to lose one it does ease the loss an itsy-bitsy teeny-tiny bit to lose one of many rather than the one and only.

Funny though, it's Deb and I who get the most upset, the dogs themselves kind of look around for a day or two, then move on. They'll even start to distance themselves before the sad day knowing that a particular dog's time has come and the 'pack' needs to reorganize.

Hang in there and when the time is right he'll be ready again. You just can't rush puppy love. ;)
