It's amazing how much HP it takes to go seriously fast. You can go near 200mph with like 600hp, but 4,000 hp only gets you going 400mph.
Wonder what the car he used looks like? |

Thanks Bosko, I read the whole thing in the first link. Wow, it takes a lot more determination to go fast than I'd ever have.
I might have stopped after this run. #1 chute failed to deploy, but #2 was okay. Tom was turning off course past the 7-mile marker at about 135 mph when the right tail brake hit the top rim of a mostly-submerged 55-gallon drum. The tail brake loose, started the car bouncing and turning sideways. It rolled 12 times before coming to rest on its side. Tom sustained a broken right arm (caused by his arm restraints) and two very black eyes. The car was severely damaged. |
