Motorcyclist Kills Self

The rider in this story was traveling over 100 MPH. Depending on which lane the car was in the rider crossed between 2 and 4 lanes to hit the car head on. There were no skid marks or indicatons of braking by the rider. He continued another 400 feet after the impact.

Never ever ride that fast, especially when other traffic is involved. Sad that he didn't have his brain engaged before going for his last ride.

If he wanted to kill himself why not run into a pole rather endangering another motorist?Oh well,he will never do it again.

This kind of crap gives the rest of us a bad rap. Not to mention what it did to his family and the other driver.

I am all for a thrill but under the right conditions...like at the race track. You can't fix stupid.

I don't know that he was actually tryint to kill himself. It just worked out that way.

Greg-The driver of the car was treated and released.

Its hard to tell, perhaps he had a seizure of some type or a mechanical problem.

Yeah I read that but when someone gets killed the harm to the "innocent" driver isn't always physical.

That is a fact. My wife hit a pedestrian years ago (he was drunk and walked right out in front of her on a 4 lane highway) and she still can't stop at the store near the spot where it happened.

Very sad. Public roads are not the place to ride bikes that fast. Folks that like to do that need to find places where they have track days.

Reminds me of a few years ago while the Boss Hoss annual rally was going on here. One of the dealers in town was out with a few other folks on the great river road and they all decided to do some burn outs on their boss hoss bikes. This particular man's bike let loose during his burn out and he was killed.

Rereading the article a left turn was involved. Whether it is going the same direction, from the sides, or in front of us the left turn with a motorcycle hitting the vehicle is one of the most dangerous conditions. Excessive speed is a sure method to disaster.

A police officer, in Chandler a few years ago, was killed almost the same way. He was responding to a call going way too fast with no red lights or siren. Another motorist turned left in front of him and it was all over. He was weaving between lanes and the motorist never saw him until the impact. The Crown Vic patrol car caught fire and the patrolman died at the scene.

Why people think they can save time by speeding on busy city streets is beyond me. Had the rider been going with the traffic flow he might have been able to avoid the accident. Almost 80% of the accidents happen directly in front of us. Hopefully it is a reminder to be extra careful as the weather gets better and everybody is riding again.
