Hotel info for 2010 Rally in Kalispell

Hi all...I posted this in the "NW Rally" thread as well.

Hi Guys and Girls.

We booked the hotel for the 2010 NW Regional Rally. After getting input from several sources we booked the Holiday Inn Express in Kalispell.

I blocked out 20 rooms (two queen beds) for August 2nd,3,4,5th. The rate is $119 per night plus tax. This includes a "hot" breakfast. I know this is on the spendy side but we only do this once every two years and maybe some can double up to save a few bucks.

All rooms have a coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator ;)

I encourage you to look at their website as this is a bit nicer than your normal HIE.

You should call (406-755-7405) to reserve your room ASAP so we can get a read on how many rooms we will end up using.

When you call refer to my name Greg Schoenkopf and the dates. It should be easy for the clerks to find the info using this info.


It wouldn't hurt to remind them you want something facing the parking lot to see your bike.

There are a couple restaurants within walking distance and the hotel has a fire pit and patio so we can gather.

tried three times today to reserve my room for the rally next aug.
without success.first call i was transfered to reservations where
the gentleman tried to sell me a room outside the reserved block
for $1.cheaper.when i said no thanks he told me i would have to
hang up then redial the same number and ask for the front desk.
i made the second call to the front desk and was told that someone would call me back.after waiting four hours i called the
front desk a third time and was told that he didn't know how to
book my room and that the manager had been in and out all day
but she would call me back.i'm still waiting :(" title="" border="0"/> for that call.very
frustating.

Landman,

I contacted the hotel to complain about the service....one thing that might help is using confirmation code# 60165049. They just gave me that number today (had told me group code "GRS" was all we needed before). You can try to contact Keri Bukowski (my contact) but I don't think she is any easier to contact than the hotel reservation clerk. I suspect the confirmation number I mentioned above will make it easier.

Al...good idea. Give me a couple days to make sure they have this in their system correctly.... I will post when after I have tested the reservation system and feel confident that they have the proper info in their system for all of us to access it...sorry for the delay.

OK Guys and Girls. I tested the hotel system today (after getting a little testy with the group coordinator and going over her head to the GM) and we are ready to go!!

Just call the hotel @ 406-755-7405. Refer to the block of rooms under my name (Greg Schoenkopf) for the dates involved (Aug 2,3,4,5) and it will come up on the clerks computer. You do not need to book the entire 4 nights to get the group rate ($119 + tax).

Sorry it was a hassle Landman...we should all be able to book now.

Yes...same as the National was in Custer. The actual rally will be on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This leaves a few days on either end of the rally for people to travel. Most people will just plan to take the whole week off for that very reason, to ride and travel.

In my case, from Everett, WA....I think Tricia and I will leave the Saturday prior to the rally and ride north to Kamloops, BC. Sunday we will ride from Kamloops, BC to Banff, Alberta, then on Monday ride from Banff to Kalispell, arriving in the afternoon sometime.

On Friday morning after the rally, I think we will ride south through Missoula over Lolo Pass to Orofino, ID, then ride home from there the next day on Saturday. This gives us a whole week to ride, travel and really see some country. BTW...anyone who would like to join us on that run is welcome to do so!

While not perfect for everyone, it gives more people the opportunity to attend by giving them travel time including the weekends on either side of the rally. Hope this does not deter you from attending...!!

Also...I recently booked our room with no problems whatsoever, so git'er-done!

i also booked my room today but thought it strange that they did
not want my credit card info.they did give me a reservation number so i guessi'm okay.only booked for the 2nd,3rd and 4th
as chainsaw and i will be traveling on to crater lake and the pch,
then over to reno and across nevada on the lonelist hwy.in america.we are planning on 10 days of riding.

Landman...I guess the hotel is OK without a credit card. Here is the GM's response....

Hi Greg –

As a courtesy we have a hotel guarantee on your group, which means that your guests may reserve a room without a credit card guarantee; however they will need to provide a form a payment at check in. We will always accept a credit card guarantee if the guest wants to provide it. Our normal policy is to require a credit card guarantee or advanced purchase to hold rooms. With groups we try to provide ease of booking by allowing let’s say the group leader to make reservations without having to capture guest credit card information, or perhaps provide a rooming list with guest names only which we convert into reservations. There is a 30 day cut off for the rooms blocked. If the number of total room reservations in the block is not actualized 30 days prior to the event, the remaining rooms automatically go back into inventory. We then are able to sell the remainder of the blocked rooms not actualized at the best available rate.

Did have to make 2 phone calls down there to arrange it but when I finally got the right gal on the phone, it was easy going. When I had finished booking the room, I also reserved "nice sunny weather" so you all can rest easy about that part. I am definitely looking forward to this event.

And Kris, if your ride into BC just before the rally works out ok, maybe we can hook up for the ride to Kalispell. Do you know someone in Kamloops or have you just kinda picked there to overnight

That's awesome...glad you plan to make it. I was just looking at the map and figured it would be a good place to overnight...probably has some good night life to enjoy. I would love to hook up with you for the trek to Kalispell. I have never been on that route beyond Kamloops, so I thought since time allowed, we could make the run up through Banff as well. That has to be some spectacular country! Should be a great ride just getting to and returning from Kalispell....the rally will be a bonus... !!

You're going to love the the entire area. Banff area is awesome. I'm going to try and make it as well. If so maybe we can hook up.
