Waving Speedo...

Is it possible that at 21,000 miles the speedo on my 07 nomad is shot?

Riding home today and noticed my speedo said I was at 70 but in reality I was only at around 30 or so. It was acting like a tach when I revved her up. But once she was in the driveway and not moving she acted normal.

Guess ill do that cable thing first, but just wondering if anyone else had a problem at 21 thou??

If your bike is an 07 it has an electronic speedo, no cable. Check the connections, and then the speed sensor, its located under the lh engine cover near the driveshaft.

look up my post, speedo acting like a tach, Betcha that's your problem.
This connector is a ground junction. All grounds that terminate in this one connector. have seen at least 3 others do this.

Its funny I just looked at that junction few weeks ago when I had my turn signal issues. Turned out to be the "back off" module the prev owner installed. The orange connector looked like new then.

Could it have shorted out in such a small amount of time? Ill look at it after I look at the speedo itself.

Todays my Bday and I got some meat smoking to do so I prolly wont get to it this weekend. lol

I believe once this starts it just becomes a runaway problem due to the resistance. Anyway, good luck, thank you for your service, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

At about 32,000 miles, my speedo went out. You really need a service manual (and a multi-meter), it describes several tests to preform to check and see what the problem is.
