Not really. Some don't wear out as fast (platinum) but the NGK's that came in your bike are fine.

BD,
Speaking of spark plugs, Seems like I've read that cooler plugs may help reduce the " pinging" we are all familiar with. It makes sense that cooler plugs would reduce pre-ignition. What are your thoughts? Thanks Shep |

Think about it for a moment. Wouldn't we all use colder plugs in all of our vehicles that called for premium if it meant we could use regular? Why wouldn't the manufacturer install them in the beginning. My understanding is that plug design is made with a big consideration to what temp the plug needs to be to burn hot enough to keep the plug clean. Then there is pollution considerations on why this heat range of plug is used and not others. In my racing days, we'd run the coldest plug that would fire in our drag bikes. Running WFO for the quarter mile put enough heat in the bike to run ok. these plugs were so cold that if we "idled" back to the pits they would carbon up and foul out.

Thinking shows your learning to try new ideas which is great! don't stop trying to solve some issues on your own and share. That's how we all learn. Well........almost all..
