Intercoms, I know, search...............

I did a search and got one thread. I read it and am still undecided as to which one to get.
I read EVERY review on webbikeworld also.
I would like to talk to my passenger, preferably without cables running everywhere on the bike and back and forth between us.
I don't want to spend 6 or 7 hundred dollars either.
Am I SOL or do you guys know something that would fit the bill?
I mean they can talk to people on the freakin' moon why can't we get an intercom that will work for 3'.

I have been researching them and have decided to go with the Auto Com - Activ plus I can plug in my radar detector and talk helmet to helmet but will still have cables. It cost 3 hundred to 4 hundred dollars depending on what head sets you get

I had Colletts when I had snowmobiles, and I liked them. When I get communicators for the bikes, I will get Colletts. I had a friend whose whole group got the Colletts, and they swore by them. And when a new and improved model came out, Colletts told them to ship their old units back and they up-graded them for free. Great customer service.

I got this from a google search http://www.collettcommunicators.com
This also;
From what I've gleaned through other users, the Collett appears to be a better unit with a MUCH better warranty, but the 900MHz technology isn't as widely used as FRS, so you don't get the advantage of interacting with the majority of bike-to-bike riders who have gone with FRS. That simply wasn't a consideration with me as I just want it for my passenger on the street, and my kids in the dirt. Frankly, I don't want all that interference from other FRS users (the frequencies can get pretty cluttered up, if you haven't already tried them and found out yourself). Frankly, you'll probably be happy with either one, but need to decide how important the FRS compatibility is to you...

OK went to the website. As far as I'm concerned if you have to have a cable between you and your passenger it is not really blue tooth.
I thought blue tooth meant stand alone units not connected.

Scala Rider is a good set, it is wireless and integrates blue tooth, gps, and XM if you have it. It also has the added benefit of about 100 ft. range

I've got a buddy that has the Scala Team headsets that's Blutooth so he gets his mp3/gps/and intercom all wireless. He says it works very well. He got the best price on ebay.

It would fit in Todd's helmet. When he's not riding he uses it as a bomb shelter!

I bought the Scala Rider TeamSet this spring for under $300. I wanted a wireless Voice activated comm system for talking with my passenger and for answering my bluetooth phone. This set works very well. There's some static, but not enough that you can't carry on a conversation. Every time I've answered the phone and told the caller I was on the bike, they made comments that they couldn't believe I was on a bike because my voice was so clear.

The VOX cuts off during intercom conversations sometimes because you take too long between words, but a little grunt or loud noise and it turns back on. Never had it cut-out on a phone call. It's a self-contained unit that attaches to the side of the helmet. No cables or wires. The buttons are easy to reach at the side of the helmet. The main transmitter unit detaches quickly so you can store it or recharge the battery, but boom mike stays attached. The speakers hide well inside the helmet. We both have Fullface helmets. Highly recommended.

OK cheeseyrider, I read your post and from all the reserch I have done I decided to pull the trigger and go with the Scala Rider TeamSet .
There is a guy on EBAY selling them NEW for $129.99. I figured what the heck, they usually go for 190 to 230 or so.
Now if the snow goes away I'll try them out.
