COME-ON Al !!!!
Hey Al ... it's time to start the hipe for 2016, otherwise it's going to be a long winter. It also motivates me to perform my winter maintenance. Where are we going, for how long? - how far?, will there be beer ?

At the risk of sounding like a homer (not the animated kind, although my physique kind of resembles Homer), the loop through Kananaskis country on Hwy 40 to Longview is a pretty spectacular ride, and all the towns around there (Longview, Black Diamond) are pretty welcoming to two wheelers. Of course there's also 1A to Canmore/Banff/ Lake Louise, and the Drumheller area. Just a thought.

Hey guys! Sorry for not responding on this thread; been pretty busy the last while with the new job and not getting on this forum much these days. (20 pages of New Posts since my last visit!)
Yes, Kananaskis and the rockies would be a nice option and probably a little bit easier to organize from this end. As a lot seem to doing the Beartooth ride in late July, perhaps a little later in August might work for you??

Yeah I Can Kananaskis. August is good. Beer is good.
Rally name? 2016 Kananaskisser Rally? That would look good on a patch!

I have to apologize to all for letting this thread sit dormant.
Unfortunately, with all that I have going on with my new job, I will have to pass on trying to organize any sort of a Western Canada ride this year. That said, if anyone wants to put together a 2 or 3 day weekend ride somewhere within the region, you certainly have my blessing to do so. 2017 will be the year for another National Rally, but we can certainly try to organize something on a regional level for those who are not able to make the long trek.

Hooking up would be great and if I have the time off, I'll be there on the Nomad. Al, hope the new job is working out and keeps a smile on your face.

Hi there;
New guy, just joined a month ago. I live on the Island and did a four day trip off the rock 4-7 July thru Whistler to Lilloet, up to Clinton and up over Hwy 24 to Little Fort, down thru Kamloops and Vernon-Kelowna. My buddy and I then took Hwy 33 down to Rock Creek and home via Osoyoos and Princeton. It rained portions of every day but there was some sunny breaks and the scenery was beautiful. Now that I have retired I would be real keen to join you for a ride in the future so will keep watching this space. Riding a '05 1600 Nomad. |

Welcome aboard colonel! Yes, keep your eye on the Canada West Group page. The plan will be to do some sort of an event here in Western Canada in 2017.
As for wet weather, in the Calgary area we had the wettest July in recent history and so far August is shaping up to be the same. Going out for a ride here means watching the skies and packing the raingear!
