My Dad

We found out a week ago that Dad has lung cancer. He already had emphysema and was taken to the hospital Saturday a week ago after being found by my mother sitting in the floor concious, but non-responsive. They began treating him for pneumonia after taking chest x-rays. Things weren't getting better by Monday with two strong anti-biotics so a CT Scan was done and that is when the cancer masses were found in both lungs. He also has Alzheimer's so he's not aware of what health issues he has going on. He has been told but the short term memory takes it right away. I would say, it's somewhat a blessing in disguise. He won't be consumed with the facts and dwelling on it. We're taking one day at a time, one step at a time.

Thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.

So sorry to hear about your Dad. I'm not a religious person, but I believe every thought is a prayer, and you and your family are in my heart during such a tough time Ms girl.

I'm really very sorry to hear that Kawgirl. I lost my Dad 8 years ago just before Christmas. Same thing.

What BD said -- he's going to a really nice place. You have my best wishes.

Thank you all. We don't know how long we have with Dad but we will cherish that time we do have. We definitely have some funny moments that will be with us forever. At this point, he does not complain of pain. He has lost a fair amount of weight. He was losing before the hospital stay, but the antibiotics they gave him for pneumonia really cleaned him out the first couple of nights. Oh the stories I could tell!! :)
