Idle

I have a 07, 24,000 miles, just changed oil ,new plugs, and air filter before I left for Daytona last week. I have a very low idle now, so low that at times it shuts off when I go from 2nd to 1st, and at lights I have to keep my hand on the throttle to to keep it going. The idle adjustment must be all the way out because I can't turn it up any more. I opened up both covers and couldn't see anything else to adjust. It runs perfect at speed. Any ideas?? Thanks

That idle screw can be a bear to turn. Crack the throttle a little and it should turn easier. Also try shooting carb cleaner down your injector throttle bodies. The first think that happens when you injectors start to get a little dirty is your idle will fall off!

Like BD said, open the throttle a little, pull the adjuster knob down on the cable, then turn it like your trying to screw it in. If you don't pull the knob down, it won't turn.

Thanks guys, I'll try the throttle na screw tonight. BD, novice wrench here, where are the injector throttle bodies at. Are they under the right cover and look like little cannisters?

Yeah....the idle adjustment gets a little tight or hard to turn if you haven't moved it in a while....esp when trying to raise the idle(turning clockwise).
If you can follow the cable up behing the air box...Oil it where it screws in and out. Back it out some, put some oil on the threads, and screw it back in past where you want it (work it back and forth)....doing this should fix you up for a while.

No they are under the right side like you said but have 2 brass butterfly valves covering 1 inch sized holes that you can see open and close when you twist the throttle. Go to Gadgets fixit page and look up injector cleaning.

Spray some carb cleaner into the throttle bore to clean it out, youll be amazed at the difference and will probably have to turn the idle down rather than up when your finished. Your fuel mileage will go up also. Do this once or twice a season and youll notice how much better it runs afterwards.

Question: Just noticed I have been spraying Gumont carb/choke cleaner into my TB to clean. it says dont use on TB. use TB, FI cleaner. Didn't think it mattered untill I read that. Now Im pondering? I bet they are both the same cleaner. Any experts out there??

No - you must use special Kawasaki Throttle body cleaner! It costs $475.00 taxes not in for a 5 ounce can. It is made from Yak's drool, and is FI friendly! Kawi Dealers are usually out of stock, but I have a can you can have for say $400 bucks? Oh, since I live in Canada I want the money in US dollars!!!
