Heel Shifter Pedal...wiggles?
The other day I was riding around trying to determine an area that gives me the less amount of vibration to mount a vid cam for my trip to the Dragon in May.
I just happened to look down at my Heel shifter pedal and it looked like it was loose. So I pulled over and sure enough I can wiggle it left and right a smidge. I pulled out my tools and removed the bolt thinking that "maybe" I put it on upside down but I did not. I re-tightened it snug enough to where I felt I would almost snap the bolt yet the dam thing still wiggles??? Yes there is still a small space in the slit whereas it could go tighter but again I do not want to snap the bolt. I took it off about a month ago to access the left side case housing (being curious as to what was behind it) and I do not remember it being that loose before. I know it will not fall off due to the slot in the spline but has anyone else encountered this before? I think (unless someone else chimes in) I am going to take a sliver of aluminum foil and use it as a shim to see if that helps. Thanks again...

Ah no, no one around here will come along and offer any usefull info, that never happens here.
Yes you need a shim, but I would get brass shim stock, from a car parts store, and if they don't have any, but a brass feeler gauge and chop it up. When you do that at least loosen the bolt a lot and spread the gap. If that fails because the car parts for some reason has got that, then get 3-M black weather strip glue and add some of that, let it dry, and then stiff the shifter back on. The vibs in time will eat the splines up on which ever part is softer.

This is a new one to me. I wonder if there was a spacer, like a washer, that would act as a shim that maybe you left off? Had mine off last summer but can't remember last week let alone last summer.

I was thinking about placing it in a vice and "gingerly" squeeze it together to see it that ehlps but I do not want to mis-align anything...Good or Bad idea?
Otherwise I will do as Mac suggests and use a brass shim. Thanks

I don't know if I would squeeze it together or not. Maybe Mac will come back and tell you different. Mine vibrates a lot but isn't loose. I can see where over time with the vibration it will tend to wear it down.

I would not clamp to squeeze. I would kill the vibs that will eat the splines, and that's it. A brass shim will work and so with 3-M black weather stripping glue if you let it dry well. It will gag the splines, and dampen vibrations.
It is too easy to over clamp and then to easy to crack chrome.

My 08 has a hard rubber spacer between the two shifter arms.
Don't all Nomads have this spacer?
