VIETNAM VETERANS WELCOME HOME CELEBRATION

KICK OFF FOR THE ALABAMA NATIONAL FAIR

GARRET COLISEUM

MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA

09 OCT 09

Greetings my friends,

Time is growing near for one of the greatest and most anticipated events of our lifetimes, imagine our Vietnam Heroes getting to participate in a genuine Welcome Home Celebration planned just for them. Is it a little to late, maybe, but isnt is well deserved. I am inviting everyone to stand with us as we Welcome Home these Great American Heroes, they earned it and they deserved it, and yes we will be there to make their dreams come true. America shall never Forget again.

The Country just celebrated the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, but didnt the country forget to remember the 190 Heroes who also lost their lives during this historic week. These and all of our heroes who gave their all, and the one's who are awaiting their Homecomings will be remembered on this day. Instead of remembering Woodstock, please take a moment of silence to Honor our brave soldiers who were away fighting for the right of public expression.

This event is dedicated to all of our Vietnam Heroes, please accept our most sincere Welcome Home, and make plans to attend this event, it is all about you on this day, America forgot you a while ago, our job is to insure no one is ever forgotten again.

You are heroes, and We Love You All.

I was on a destroyer during Vietnam. We did a Med tour in '67 and then in '68 we were supposed to go to Vietnam. Then the Navy decided our ship had to be refueled too often and swapped us out with a ship from Charleston, SC and we went back for another Med cruise and the other ship took our place in Nam. I really hate that I didn't get to go to Nam.

Me, being a younger dumbass (then I am now) volunteered for Nam.
The way I grew up I figured life would be a lot easier over there then at home.
It was somewhat a beautiful country where women were cheap and bullets free!
I was a crew chief / door gunner on a Huey for 2 1/2 years, got shot a few times but never hated my job. Loved being a door gunner!!

Got to go to Bangkok for a week and loved it... long time!
Hated Saigon, it was a filthy city and the women were EXPENSIVE!!!
The Tonsunute airbase was about the most beautiful airbase I ever saw.

Believe me, you didn't miss anything not going there... the Navy wasn't much use "in country".
