Looking into replacing my shocks on my 07 Nomad. Looks like one is leaking. I can't find out what size the stock ones are. Any one know? How about suggestions for replacements. I usually ride two up at max load (or slightly higher)

Thanks!

Replace them with progressives, I don't think there is a direct replacement but you can adapt a set by swapping out the rubber bushings in the eyelets from what Ive heard. Or you may be able to refill your stock ones with heavier weight of oil, depending on where they are leaking from.

The model number for the Progressive 440 shocks I have is 440-4213C, these are 13" shocks.

Thanks. So Wanderer, 13" did not lower the bike did it? Had posed the question to Scootworks and they came back with what they had used on other Nomads which had lowered the bikes over an inch. They never told me how tall the stock shocks were, perhaps they did not know.

The stock shocks are 13" I changed to 11 1/2" progressive to lower the bike because the older I get the shorter I get

Thanks! My wife might like the bike a little lower but I like the way it handles now. Will probably stick with 13".

I also wrote a note to Progressive since they don't list the 1600 Nomads on their site to see what they recommended. Would you believe that they recommended Works Performances (who also does not have a listing for the Nomad).

Progressive also told me to go to Works performance. They didn't have a shock for the nomad but would build one for me :) I stayed with the oem for now :)

I put on Progressive shocks and dropped the bike an inch overall; front and rear. It handles better and is easier to mount and dismount. Only issue is tall speed bumps and steep driveways where my V&H pipes might drag. Personally I never liked the stock shock. Progressive shocks made the ride tighter with better control when riding two up.

I would love to go to progressive shocks. Everyone has good things to say about them. What do they usually cost?

Ghost, if you get the Progressives make sure you read the write up on Gadgets site about the washers (spacers) at the top of the shocks. MAKE SURE THE WASHERS DON'T BIND!. Your shocks wont function right leaving you very disappointed. You may have to make one of you washers thinner.

I wouldn't lower mine either. It's a trick to learn how to handle it.

The set I got was out of CA. for about 420.00 shipped. I believe the company was Moto X, I'll have to look it up

Looking at the 440-4233B 12.5 inch. These are black not chrome. Since they hide behind my black bags, what do I care. This is the largest heavy duty 440 listed on the Progressive site. Says it fits a 2007 Vulcan Classic...close enough. Let me know where the cheapest can be found. So far it is Cruiser Customizing @ $502 shipped. Gotta be cheaper somewhere else. Thanks for all the great response!

Dennis Kirk $479.99 shipped but they are not in stock.

I also contacted Progressive and they said they don't make them for the 06 Nomad cause they use a different mounting sleeve. I noticed everyone listing p/n for the classic, are you using the sleeves from the factory shocks ???
