I am please to have found all you Nomad owners. I retired in 2005 and purchased a black and silver 05 Nomad. I put 37,000 miles on it in a year and a half. I was irratated by what sounded like noisy lifters in the engine. I loved the bike so much though that I bought a 2007 Nomad. Still love it but can't get use to the noisy lifter sound. Has anyone found anything that can quiet them down? Oil? Additive? Coast down hills? Thank you! Dan

My 2005 has noisy lifters too. I'm at 5000 miles. It seems to get better once it is really warm, like 10 minutes of riding. I am going to switch to Mobil 1 soon. That may help. The main reason for the switch is the oppressive heat down here all the time.
I'll keep a ear open for it this weekend...

To rflnomad. I put synthetic oil in my 05 and it may have been my imagination but I think it got a little louder.

Dan: Welcome to the site. I own an '05 Nomad(Black/Siver) with nearly 6,000 miles so far. it has been noisy since day #1 and still is cold or hot. I just ignore it. I did get V&H bagger pipes and that helped alot, lol, can't hear much now but the pipes. I was toying with going to Mobil 1 but still researching it. I sure don't need the bike to be noisy in the lifters. bro owns a '06 and its the same way. Thats the nature of this motor.

Hi Dan,
I have an 05 with 21k on it. It has been noisy from day one. I run synthetic too. No difference. |

Welcome Dan!
I am on my third Vulcan and have years of contact with others who own them....... they make noise. Nature of the beast. I also have the V&H Baggers with baffles in and they also work well. |

Todd, I think you might have mis-interpreted the word Goose the way Nico intended!!!
