Speedometer noise?

Happy New Year! There's a funny noise coming from my speedometer. I ride an 06 Nomad 1600 with currently 24K miles. I purchased a GTPP plan early last year. I am experiencing a rattle noise at the speedometer near 45mph on decel or accel which appears to be the cable. However, the dealer (Whittier Fun Center) indicated the GTPP will not cover the repair, if they could duplicate it. The warrantly plan will only cover if the speedometer is inoperable. Has anyone experienced the same noise coming from the speedometer? What was the fix and is it the cable? Greatly appreciate any light that could be shed on this subject.....it's been puzzling?

There is no speedometer cable on a 1600. They aren't mechanical units, they are electronic.

Mine had a similar problem, checked every thing I could find. There was a couple of threads about this sometime back about the bushings on the (narcele?) speedo cover, I never found my problem but has disappeared for now. It was only at a certain speed and only at accel or decel. I could never find the exact problem, it was like a ghost moving from the speedo to under the tank to the front, and then it was gone. ?????? Good luck, maybe you can find yours!

There is no cable, but matbe the wiring harness iss rattling under there at certain times. Id take it off and have a look. Its probably something like a broken clip that a tie wrap may fix.

There are a lot of things that can cause a buzz, or rattle at certain speeds on the Nomad. The most common are from the radiator cover, the headlight bucket or, as Jesse mentioned, the nacelle itself. I had one there. I would take it off and check that out. Mine was just a couple of loose bolts going through the rubber vibration bushings.

I had a funny rattle coming from my speedometer one time that kept getting louder the faster I went. It was funny aggravating, not funny the other way. Anyhow, one of my greasy, long hair Hurley Daverson buddies toll me to take the key out of the ignition switch and it would go way. I felt like a dumbass, but I didn't have a rattle no more.
