I'm sure it's out of my bracket. Any idea what they're worth?

Don't know. That rider is doing a 100CCC right now. I guess he rides at night a lot...

We use an industrial still shot version of FLIR at work that we paid $14,000 for. We use it for heat surveys on the cubicles in our switch gear buildings and for narrowing down sources of hot spots on our boilers. We do have an environmental third party that comes onsite annually with a wide view FLIR motion camera to locate methane leakage from flange joints, instrumentation, etc. I don't know what that one costs but I'm sure it's more than the one we have. Might be surprised how little this helmet mounted version costs.

The base PathFindIR camera with wiring is priced at $2745 excluding tax and shipping. Mounts/ installation and a monitor are not included. Integration with existing auto video systems is possible

Don't buy it, cause the moment you do there is a newer improved version on the boat on the way over, and while that is on the way over, there is an even newer improved version coming off the assembly line.

Seems there is something new on a daily basis. HUD now available for your eyeglasses. This form of non-radiometric IR video system also becoming popular for private aircraft. Used IR imagers in research and development before doing it as a commercial service for a dozen years. Amazing advancements in technology in the last 25 years! Not sure what these systems cost but thinking about posting my shipping address along with this IR system on a Christmas wish list in case anyone is feeling generous. Ha!

Recently started working on a house that has been under construction for over 3 years. The multi-billionaire owner changes half of the floor plans every time some new technology comes out on the market. Guess I'll be there a while.

We used $50,000 FLIR cameras but later switched to Fluke TI-32. I find Flukes to be more user friendly and cheaper ($8,000). They also have IR Fusion feature.
I think the cheapest Thermal vision handheld camera can me purchased for under $2,000.

I just find it cool to be able to see at night with the FLIR. I find my night vision is a little less than it used to be, so I avoid riding in the dark. The guy that made the video is currently doing a 100CCC which is san diego to jacksonville and back in 100 hours or less. That's a hard core rider. The hardest core rider is the guy that did the Deadhorse to Key West run in 86 hours. That's nuts.

Ponch, I've met both the riders you are talking about. The guy with this set up was at Stagecoach in 2011 with his decked out GW. It had a custom dash set up with the FLIR and a bunch of stuff including a set up that was cooling system for him on the bike from his trailer. Here is thread from the GL1800 forum about the build.

http://gl1800riders.com/forums/showt...out-of-the-bag

The guy that did the UCC in 86 hours is John Ryan. Melissa Holbrook Pierson wrote a book about him called "The Man Who Would Stop at Nothing". He is quite an interesting person to talk to. His bike is quite a sight to see too.

I think he is using a GSA for his 100CCC, but I'll have to check. I got the pic from a beemer forum. As far as John Ryan, I've seen pics of his bike and it's a mess. Did you know he's a diabetic? Incredible he can do that.
