Zip Code at American Gas Stations
I learned this trick recently so I thought I'd share it with fellow riders. If you are using a Canadian credit card and fueling at a gas station in the western US, you might be required to key in a zip code. Since we don't have a zip code and our postal codes are 6 characters, I was told to use the three numbers followed by two zeros.
For example, for postal code V5G 3H2, one would enter 53200. It worked for me 90% of the time. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

This past weekend on a trip to ID & WA I used this at least twice (not all pumps asked for a zip/postal code) and it worked for me. Enter all 6 characters of the Canadian postal code using the numbers on the keypad that represent the individual letters. Example: my postal code of T2Y 5C3 is 829523.

i just spent 17 days and 9500 kms wandering all over the western states. 95% of the time no zip code was required. When it was aked for i used the last 5 digits of my postal code.... it worked every time.

Yeah I use that trick too. Isn't it funny that a system that is probably there to supposedly help track fraudulent use of credit cards can't even detect when you use a false zip code.
