2002- Fuel pump Rebuild
Ok folks! I got my old bike back from my brother recently. A 2002 1500 Nomad that he had let sit. Fuel tank rusted out good. I want to get this thing running again so I'm draining all the fluids, replacing plugs and bought a used and in decent shape tank off ebay. It came with fuel sender but of course no fuel pump. I have the old fuel pump and disassembled it and bought a rebuild kit of ebay. *disclaimer* I'm not a mechanic but I can follow instructions or a diagram. My issue is the rebuild kit is different enough I can't figure out how to make it work with the fuel pump assembly. I have all the pieces but it's different enough for me not to be confident in how to put it back together correctly. Any thoughts or guidance on how to move forward with it?

Well, if it were me I would've bought a replacement for about $70, slinged it in and be done....because the pump comes with the hoses and clamps, heatshrink tubing and a sock that goes on the end of the pump assembly....
Do a search, you'll find the link to the pump there.... Oh, by the way, Welcome Aboard!

oh, as per your main question....get a good repair/service manual for your bike, hell, I have 4 diff. ones I use....on some obscure things, I need it.
Look up your fuel pump assembly, look at the pump kit you have. Being a mechanic, I only do kits in emergency situations. I'm not even sure if you can get them anymore....and you will still have old, used parts in it.....thats why I prefer just replacing the fuel pump itself.

Yt might also help you. Sometimes seeing the assembly step-by-step can help.
