Don Pearce, Asst State Captain for MA PGR, and just all round good guy, went down. Please send a prayer to Don and Nancy.

Don was returning home and was about five minutes away when a woman on her cell phone barreled out of a store parking lot and broadsided him.

As of this posting Don has had surgery to repair the multiple fractures in his leg. He has three cracked ribs, one puncturing his lung. That has also been addressed. He has three broken bones in his back but nothing affecting his spine, thankfully. He did also have a moderate to severe head concussion , but tests don't reveal anything worrisome for the long term. He will probably be in the trauma/intensive care unit through the weekend at least. The doctors at this point see no permanent disabilities save for the possibility of ongoing pain issues.

So it looks as if he will be okay, I figure a few prayers couldn't hurt.

This cell phone thing has just got to end. Long and harsh sentances is all I can think. It's worse than driving drunk.

Get well soon wishes from the province that has banned cell phone use while driving unless used with hands free device. 150$ fine , 3 points. I think it's a good move..

Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

A cell phone user nearly clipped me earlier this week going out of turn at a four way stop while I was in the INTERSECTION making a left turn! This cell phone business really gets on my nerves. I notice more drivers than not using cell phones.

Update: Don is sitting up as I write this. He still is in severe pain and requires his "happy" button often. Most pain is in the right knee. Some pain in the ribs as well. He is talking and more alert today. He talked on the phone to Grace and his brother, Alan. Don has asked me to ask you to pass on this update. He wants to "thank you" as well as I do. You are making this much easier for me.
