Stebel Horn
I may order a Stebel horn today. I saw on another post it pulls 18 amps. Just wondering if that could blow a fuse if riding at night pulling my trailer with all the extra lights on and I honked it. Does the Stebel need an in-line fuse?
Thanks, Zoom45

I always put an inline fuse in everything I hook up. Gadgets site has a write up on how to install one.

Hi zoom,
You want to put the stebel on it's own fused circuit. That way you won't have to worry about blowing some other fuse depending on how much stuff you have on. Of course you don't want to exceed the output of the alternator but that's another story. If you want to remove the stock horn and replace it with the stebel you can follow the wiring diagram shown below. This will use the stock horn button to operate the stebel. Since I don't have a nice CAD program, this is just hand drawn. Disclaimer: Also, some say that the hot (12vdc) lead should go to terminal 86 and terminal 85 should be the terminal which gets grounded by the horn button switch. Either way should work.

All the directions are included and simple. It does have a 20 amo in-line fuse and a relay all comes with it. LOUD!!!!!!!

Still trying to find one locally, I can find BadBoy horns all over but not the Stebel horn.

Try www.bikerhiway.com. They usually have stuff to you in less than a week.

If you simply install it in place of the OEM horn you will. A Stebel horn needs a dedicated, relay controlled circuit. It's not difficult, just don't ask me how to wire it. ::) ::)

The instructions and fused circuit that Doc refer to come only with the wiring kit, not the horn it self. Only the relay comes with the horn. Not hard to wire yourself without the kit but with the kit every piece for doing it correctly, the first time, are right there.

Does the relay come with the horn or the wiring kit? All I saw with the kit was wire, fuse holder and connectors. The horn description didn't say.

Got my Stebel Nautilus today from BikerHiway. It came very quickly. From the instructions it looks like it should mount facing the rear, straight up but wouldn't that make the bracket need to wrap around the horn to mount it? Anyone have pictures of the mounting braket on a 1500. I may have to wait till Saturday to g et it on.
Thanks, Zoom

The best place I see to mount it like the instructions say is make a real short bracket and bolt it high on the right side using the crash bar bolt. I really didn't want it outside the frame where it sticks out but since I did get the chrome horn it may look ok. Most of the dummies are on the left side but from what everyone says it is loud enough they will hear it. I don't see a good place for it on the left side. Either my foot or the key will be in the way and it's really not enough room to tuck it in between the radiator and the cylinder.
