Are there any difference between carb and fuelinjection engines?

Hello! Ive searched the forum and i couldnt find anything. So if the question has already been asked I apologize.

I recently bought an 01 vulcan 1500. Turns out the engines in quite bad shape. I have problem finding a new engine. I have however found an carburated motor but by bike is fuelinjected.

Could i take the tops from my engine and mount the injector on that engine? Or are the engines different in any way that makes this impossible?

Gratefull for answers

Several on the forum have done what you propose will hopefully be along shortly.

If I remember correctly installing a 1600 engine is also possible.
