Sorry Another iPod Question

Should be getting my iPod adapter for my new to me Voyager from Santa. My question is can I turn it on/off from the handlebar or do I have to physically open the compartment and power it on every time I use it (and off). I'll be leaving it in the bike all the time (as many I understand do). Thanks.

I leave mine on the bike all the time and never have to open the door to turn on/off. It is in the off position until the bike is started and the radio turned on.

So it's in the compartment "powered off" and when you start the bike and turn on the radio it will fire up? And power down when you turn the radio off?

It actually goes into sleep mode and will automatically restart when you turn on the ignition. I know because when I unplug it after the bike is turned off, and after it has been off for a day, all I have to do is touch the button and the screen comes up to swipe my finger across to open the menu. If you are going to not ride for a bit I would unplug it, as it will not drain the bike battery but it will drain the Ipod battery

Like smokey said it is in sleep mode. I have never removed mine except to add or change songs. Mine is fine with sitting for a time but my bike does get used often as I live where I can ride year round.

When I first got the bike I used an iPod that had a weak battery that would not hold the charge. It worked fine because the power comes from the bike. After 4 months the iPod stopped working and I replaced it with another one that has a new battery.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm gonna buy a used 5th gen Nano that has the 30 pin connection and keep it in the bike. My 7th gen has the lightning and goes to the gym with me.

That was my solution as well. I tried the 30 pin-Lightning adapter and the tight clearances made for some expensive broken wires in the adapters. I gave up on using my iPhone and bought a 4th gen nano at Easy Pawn for $20. It works beautifully.

Ipod

What they said. But, when I left mine in the compartment over the winter (new England) it went completely dead, I had to take it out and hook up to iTunes to reset every thing. So now I know. Over the winter I will take it out.

I just installed mine today and it's great. I think you're right about removing it for winter. Think I'll take mine out too. Can't wait to get the rear speakers.

The battery was pooched when I bought my used Ipod so I just left it in the bike all the time, even over winter and it worked fine.
