Those are spare wires, a constant power wire and a ground. Ir you want a switched power wire you should use a relay and connect the trigger wire to a switched source such as the horn or front marker lights.

It might help if you said what bike you have.
Older nomads had an acc wire under the tank while later 1600 had 2, one in the head light bucket and one under the seat. The black / yellow wire is ground. If this is the acc wire, it is constantly powered.

As Ring says it is the acc wires used to wire an acc/ cig lighter plug , GPS etc. it's always powered. You really should set it up like Ringhadingh says, powered from a fused wire from the battery through a relay triggered by a wire running off the parking light.

I thought I was quite smart when I wired in a USB socket and fixed it up on the neck in front of the tank on my 1500 Nomad. I had it wired straight to the battery, so I could charge my phone in a holder on the bars, and not have it affected by key on or off.
Then I didn't use the bike for a while, and the battery went a little flat. Not so much it wouldn't start the bike - just enough so anyone within hearing threw me one of those glances... you know, a "That was lucky!" sort of a glance. I learned from that... Those tiny down-stepping transformers that must be in those little USB sockets to make them output 5v must use a little juice up? So now I've installed two of them on the Voyager - one up front and one down the back... And both of them turn off with the key.

Thanks guys I was planning on using a relay and mounting a small switch some where where I can get to it with out bending over... The switch is by the key now and pulling in to the gas station with music blaring cause going slow in a parking lot is not a good place to bend over and reach down to turn off the music

No mute button just an 3.5mm plug for a MP3 player, an amp and speakers. Easier to just turn it off than turn down my iPhone..

I don't have a manual for your year model, but my 2011 Nomad manual shows (in the wiring diagram) that my Accy plugs (one in headlite, one under seat) is fed from the ignition switch (both the Accy B+ relay coil terminal and the Accy B+ relay switch circuit). It's switched (by Ignition) and is fused thru Fuse Block 2.
If I were you I'd test these plugs you've located. First with the ignition OFF, connect your volt meter test leads, one to each of these plugs. Do you read volts with the ignition OFF. Then turn the ignition ON and do the same test. You may very well have a fused and switched Accy circuit you can use for your needs. |

Perhaps the newer bikes have the spares wired through the switch, but the older bikes were all constant power.

Alternate music source for Vaquero
I bought a 9 dollar FM transmitter and now play all the music from my phone wirelessly by sinking an Fm station on the stock radio. Works awesome!
