GOT IT, THANKS Need Help Not Nomad related......

I am trying to install a tach on Cindy's 750 Shadow C2.
I followed the directions that came with it but it will not Show RPM's
When I turn on the key it lights up and the needle goes all the way to max then drops back to zero. So I know I have power and ground correct. When I start the bike the needle doesen't move at all. Any one have any ideas?
I have checked on Honda boards till I'm blue in the face.

Maybe you have one of the tach wires going to the wrong side of the ignition coil. Im not familiar with Hondas, but it sounds like your not picking up the coil signal to the tach.

Thanks guys, that was it.
The instructions said hook to negative side of coil. Since there was a positive reading on both sides I assumed the black connector was the negative side. Wrong, the green side is negative :-/
Switched sides and all is well

I always hate it when it turns out to be something simple and you have spent hours trying to figure it out.
