Thunder Air Kit on Voyager

I installed the Thunder Mfg 51020F Air Kit today. The kit is well made, high quality parts, but the instructions leave a little to be desired. I opted for the fluted round air filter cover this time (I had installed similar kit on a Nomad using the stock cover a few months ago). The access between the forward cylinder and the throttle body adapter plate is REALLY TIGHT! Can barely get an open end wrench in there. There was also an extra hole in the adapter plate that I had to plug. I guess it's used on some other configurations. Otherwise, it all went together just fine.

I do have one question. The kit includes a black cover to protect/hide the electronic throttle wire harness just forward of the filter. But factory fasteners have to be removed and replaced to install this. BTW, no mention of this part or step in the instructions. Problem is the factory fasteners look like a Torx T15 security with post in the middle, I assume to discourage one from removing them. Anybody familiar with this? know where to get the tool? any special reason for not removing them?

Thanks.

jrsisk,

If these bit sets are available at even Wally World, they should be available at any good hardware store...

You should be able to safely remove the TWO T15 head bolts on the upper block, but do not remove the bolt in the Accelerator Position Module below this unit as it could affect it's settings. According to the shop manual, the Accelerator Position Module is only to be removed and adjusted by a qualified Kawi Tech with the proper tools to adjust it.

Hope this helps!
