Progressive springs issue
It's not actually the springs issue but something else. Pretty straight forward install.
My issue is now it's not free wheeling like it used too. What I mean is, when I walk it backwards to put it in the garage, it's taking ALOT more effort to push. Do I have something too tight in the front? I backed the axle off some, and the 2 fork bolts I also backed off some. Still feels like something is hanging up. It's a "TANK" to push anyway but now it seems worse. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

sounds like you might have the spacers on the axle backwards. you can post pictures easy on the VBA facebook page or the Vulcan help page

The wider ring is against the fork, not the wheel, of the bushing

the wide lip on the bushings go towards the fork and there will be a gap between it and the fork .if those are ok check your brake pads and calipers

1st make sure every thing is in place . then unbolt the calipers and rock them back&forth on the rotor this will spread the pads . NOW while the brakes are loose raise the frt end and rotate the wheel Free or Not? Torque the frt axle and clamp bolts PER your manual . Roll the frt wheel again Free or Not ? Now before touching the frt brake Handle roll the bike .Free or Not ? Now apply the brake until it pumps back up . roll the bike again . what happened at each step?

It is possible you have both brake pads on one side of the rotor.

What makes y’all think the prob is in the brakes? Said it wasn’t rolling like it used to and all he did was the progressive spring install. Don’t have to touch the brakes/calipers to do that. “Pretty straight forward install”.

Well, I found the issue and it was all my fault. Nothing to do with the brakes, nothing to do with the springs.
When I put the springs in, had to take the wheel off to flush the fluid and put new in. When I reinstalled the wheel, I didn't pay attention to the rotation of the tire. I put the wheel on backwards. I have brand new tires so I didn't really notice any handling issues being new tires. It drove me nuts all night and this morning, so I tore it apart, and that's how I noticed my STUPID mistake. Again It was all my fault not paying attention. |

As a full time motorcycle mechanic I can relate to bonehead blunders...it happens. More than once I've managed to end up with both brake pads on one side of a caliper because I didn't feel like removing said caliper during wheel removal. Another mechanic I know stuffed front and rear tubes in the opposite tires...thank God I caught that one! I've also left spacers out of the inside of drum brakes or sprocket hubs only to spot the spacer when I rolled the bike out. We scold ourself for piss poor attention and move forward hopefully a better mechanic.

Jtckf555 Thanks for the information. Sounds like something I would do.
How is the suspension with the new springs? What did they solve? and what is the part #
