Got something new for around town.

So far, I've owned two terrific Kawasaki cruisers; a VN900 and my Nomad. The Nomad is a great bike and I enjoy riding it, but my commute is only about 10 miles (none highway). Lately, I've been thinking about trying out something different and much lighter. I had been looking for a Triumph Bonneville, but never could find the right deal. After widening my options, we managed to find a deal worth considering. So we rode Ann's Spyder out to Abilene KS and I got the chance to ride this 2007 SV 650 S.

a few more photos

It is definitely a lot different than the Nomad. It is still a V-twin but it red-lines at 12K RPM. It weighs less than 400 lbs, gets 45+ mpg. It has a slightly more leaned forward seating position than what I wanted, but it is still a bit more vertical than a race bike. I rode it about 220 miles home and really enjoyed it. It would not be as comfortable as my Nomad for the long trips, but I will still have my Nomad for that.

When I get back from the SC rally, a trip to the DMV awaits.

Really nice. I like that. Wouldn't want to do any long trips on it but for around town it would be great.

Very cool! Congrats!!!

If you want to remove the decal on the tank, you're gonna need a hair dryer and a lot of patience.

Nice ride Glenn, congratulations. Make sure you have plenty of time when you go to the DMV office. The new computer system is very slow.

Nice bike Glenn. Better budget some ticket money in there somewhere.

We came back on two lane roads and the Speedo did see 99 while passing. We checked the GPS on the spyder and it showed a max of 93. It does get there quick. :)

I like it! I'm jealous that your getting the best of both worlds. The cruiser for longer trips and the "fun" bike for around town/quick trips. I had a Suzuki Bandit 1200 and loved that thing! The SV is very similar, I think. Enjoy it!!
