Oil filter question
It's about time for me to change oil. I am going to try Amsoil 20w-50 with a Wix/Napa filter. My question is who is using the long filter on the 1700 bikes? The part number is 1536 or 51536.

While I'm not using the Wix filter, I've still got a stash of discontinued SuperTech ST7317's but I am using the longer 3.25" filter, they fit with no problem. To put my oil at the top of the dipstick hash marks using the longer filter takes 5.1 quarts of oil...

Darkstar, thanks for the response. I also used the ST7317 filter but my local Walmart is out of them. I wish I knew they were discontinuing them I would have bought a of them.

Landsman, I don't use frame filters anymore. I had a bad experience with them in the past.

the topline ultra filters [the gold ones] use a double synthetic media and i have run them for over 25,000 miles with no issues.

I'll keep that in mind. My local Walmart sell Bosch and Puralator (the white ones), so if all else fails I'll buy one of those before Fram. I don't know anything about the newer Fram's, I just remember my bad experience.
