RE: Our Occupations
Wow!! I've been following the thread about riders' various occupations, and I must say, it is a myth-busting read. Some other forums regard those who ride cruisers as a bunch of ill-behaved thugs dressed as pirates, and general ne'er-do-wells.
Well, I challenge anyone to read all 15 pages and find anyone that is less than a professional here. What a fine bunch of folks we have here on this boards. It certainly shows a great cross section of society among those of us who ride cruisers. I'm proud to be a part of you all. No thugs or pirates here, that's for sure. RE: Our Occupations
Be sure and check out the "KawaNOW Did You Know" page. It lists some of the types of riders we have in KawaNOW and some of their accomplishments.

RE: Our Occupations
I also was amazed at what a diverse group of people we have here. It certainly is an interesting post to read through.
I think the old days of the bad boy motorcycle image is long gone, Most people ride now as a secondary form of transport, mainly for pleasure, rather than the primary means of getting around.

RE: Our Occupations
Hey wait a minute. I try to look like a hoodlum as often as possible to offset my geek status. Doesn't that count?
Just kidding. I love this place. And on that note I would like to brag that my award finally came through for my patent submission for research and design I did on some virtual server technology at work. Very proud moment for me. |

RE: Our Occupations
I have also been awarded one patent and was listed on about 3 more applications as co-inventor. It takes a long time for these to come through.
I have also been deposed twice and have spent several hours with lawyers helping to prepare our defense when we've been sued for patent infringement. Believe me when I say that is absolutely no fun.

RE: Our Occupations
Yeah that doesn't sound fun at all. People are always amazed when I tell them about KawaNOW and then tell them about the diverse backgrounds of our members. I am pretty sure their first impression is just a MC club. Surprise! we are educated.

Kinda thrilling, isn't it? I have two; one for a corrugated bulk container I helped design that holds 500 gals of cooking oil and one for a single slice pizza corrugated container that I designed by myself. Since I did the work for my company, there was not much in monetary rewards but... I am named as patentee.

RE: Our Occupations
Yeah it is funny how little you get and how much they will make off of it. It is great personal pride though. And your single slice pizza containers is one of the coolest things ever.
