1700 Nomad shifter lever tutorial?
I'm going to change the shifter lever on my '14 Nomad next week. Does anyone have a tutorial or preferably a video showing the steps? I know I can do the opposite of the removal but I'd like to see the process before hand so I know what steps to take and to ensure I don't need to buy new parts before I start.
As always, thanks a heap!

I switched mine over a year ago with one of Chucksters extended one. I don't have any pics or videos. But it was pretty straight forward. I am pretty sure I had to remove the floor board to remove it. But no extra or new parts were needed.
Been reading your other posts. Seems like you are coming along with everything. Really like the Black and white ones. Its the one I would have got, but wanted the full touring model.

Thanks. I looked @ the parts breakdown online and it looked like it might be a bit complicated. So, once the floorboard is off and the shift linkage is removed, what holds the shifter on? Single nut?
I thought about a Vaquero but figured I'd go more old school this time. Sort of a "less is more" kind of thinking. I wanted cruise control, ABS, etc but I have plenty of music on my phone (and access to various streaming services) plus a SENA on my lid so I've got that covered. My days of LONG riding trips are over so I didn't need the extra storage or weight. I can see adding hard lowers in the spring (I've always liked that look), extended brake/shift levers and maybe some highway pegs.

As plumber63 said, it's pretty straight forward. Here is a LINK to the manual about this.
You don't need to remove the left guard, just remove the bolt and pull it out when removing the floorboard mount.

Great! So how does the shifter attach to the floorboard assembly? Simple nut?

I just went out to look at it and it is just a bolt you remove or loosen to pull the shift lever spline shaft out.

Look at this LINK for what I was talking about.
It's a very easy job as far as I can remember. I had mine of a few times working with Joe "Chuckster's" when he made up my toe shift and brake arm. Also note that my bike is a Voyager but should be the same as yours for the shift linkage.

I think I got it now. Thanks. This should be fun outside and in the rain (forecast for rain for the next 10 days).
