colorado ride in june

I am in the process of planning a trip to Colorado in the beginning of June. I do have some routes mapped out of the following rides: Rocky Mountain N.P., Poudre Canyon, San Juan Skyway – Million Dollar Highway, Unaweep, Black Canyon N.P., and Independence. Does anyone one have any input in regards to theses rides, time of year, weather or any other helpful information.

Yep, you could easily get snowed on in June in some of those areas of Colorado.

I did that ride end of June last summer. Great trip, passes pretty chilly, and remember to have rain gear handy. I switched out gear and helmets more than I stopped for gas. Oh ya, check ADV site, there's alot of CO. boys on there.

You have selected some amazing rides! It will be a dream trip for sure!
As others have said, be prepared for every type of weather. The high mountain passes will be cold, even in the middle of the day, but as you descend in altitude you could quite rapidly find yourself in 85 -90 degrees. In early June, there may still be some snowy spots on the road, or ice in the morning that froze overnight from the previous days snow melt. Just take care and you'll be fine.
By Independence, if you mean Independence Pass, it's possible that it won't be open in early June. It usually is, but it totally depends on how our late Winter and Spring snows shape up this year, and that's a bit of a crap shoot. Some of our heaviest snowfall occurs in March and April.
Keep us posted on your plans and perhaps some of the Colorado Contingency can join you for some of these amazing miles.

The southwest region will be having their regional rally in Cortez CO on June 14-16. That is very close to the San Juan Skyway – Million Dollar Highway. You ought to consider stopping and saying hi.

The million dollar highway is an amazing drive. I'm jealous you're going.

I was on the M.D.H in mid July, and there was still snow in some places. Not any on the roads, but off the roads, there was still some around. I took a 4x4 road that had 10 ft. drifts on either side it.

It is often a struggle to get Trail Ridge (crossing Rocky Mt NP) open by Memorial Day. Here's a pic I took last year on the second weekend in June.

Definitely try to join us in Cortez on the 14th.

At that point it is just over 12,000 ft ASL. I believe it has the distinction of being the highest continuous paved road in the US

Durango and Teluride are great. There are several loops up there that are amazing. Where ever you go in the Rockies you won't go wrong. Enjoy.
