Beautiful riding day
It was in the upper 80's today and a great day to be out riding, unfortunately I have a job so I didn't get to do much riding. I was able to witness many people riding with very little protective gear. Now I won't ever tell anyone what they need to wear, but the one that really stood out was this dude riding a V-max wearing shorts, a tank top, and sandles. I will be the first to admit, I sometimes wear tennis shoes and I don't wear the leathers around town, but I'm always in jeans and usually have my leather vest on. I always wear at least my 1/2 helmet. It just makes me shake my head when I see those people wearing shorts, tank top, and sandles on the bike. I hope for their sake they don't meet the pavement.

Beautiful riding day
No matter how much clothing you wear, if you go down you are going to get skinned up a bit. I usually wear jeans myself but have ridden with shorts. Back in my teen years we used to ride bare footed. Luckily we never went down.

Beautiful riding day
Until it hits close to home most people think it will never happen to them. On hot days Ive gone out in just a T shirt and sneakers myself. Those days are pretty well over for me now. Ive noticed that my brother and a couple buddies are wearing more gear now since my mishap, and they seen firsthand what can happen.
If I would have had a proper bike jacket on with some armour, my road rash would have been limited to just my legs.

I have seen that sort of thing too. I can't imagine sandals in a crash, but usually just think what if as he puts his / her foot down coming to a stop and picks up a stone or something between the sole and his foot, won't be pretty.
Steve , I always wear my leather jacket or armor mesh jacket, but sometimes wear only jeans. since your incident I have started to wear my crash pads armor under my jeans if I am not wearing my leather pants. Lets just say it got my attention!

Beautiful riding day
Last night my wife and I were coming back from our son's place. We pulled up next to a rider on a small sport bike at a light. It was a female rider wearing a full face helmet, a tank top, short shorts and athletic shoes. I wanted to show her the road rash scars on my arms and ask her how she'd like her legs (which were gorgeous, btw) to look like that.

Beautiful riding day
I once had a sport bike pull up beside me, where he was wearing the t-shirt, shorts, and sandals. He did have a FF helmet on ...I'll give him that. He gave me a nod and flipped the face up to tell me what a nice bike I had. "Thank"s I said...."have you ever laid a bike down?" I asked. He laughed and said "No". I said "good but there's a good chance you will, and trust me you don't want to be dressed like that". He put his lid down and moved ahead to be ready to go and make his left hand turn. So, people think it isn't going to happen to them. Accidents are things that happen to others. I'm sure Vancouver/Langley is no different than any other city and you have crotch rockets everywhere in the summer ..... with guys and their girls dressed for the beach and riding like idiots.
God help them!

Beautiful riding day
I have to admit until I had my wreck it was not unusual for me to go out in shorts, t-shirt, and sandals. Now that I've felt first hand the experience of going down, never again will I dress like that. It will be protective gear from head to toe from now on. The only problem is that I get extremely hot, even when the temps are mild, so finding a descent light weight protective clothing is going to be my first search once I'm able to ride again. I've seen several choices but not in my price range, just yet anyway. My wife always told me that I would regret dressing like that, just glad when I did wreck that I was "dressed for the wreck" that particular day...
