NCR MV Rally Ride Plan

EDITED: Just an update for those going on the ride with us.

Despite my recent accident; I have all intentions of still going to the National Rally in MV. I will have a rental bike if needed. I assume my body will be mostly healed by then also. So don't count me out.

Head-count:

As a reminder; for those that do not wear helmets:
Tennessee and North Carolina both require helmets to ride. Be sure to bring one.

Saturday evening in Columbus:

We plan on meeting Don and Mel in Columbus, IN for dinner on Saturday evening; as long as he can find a place that will be able to seat a group of 13. He thinks he can.

Sunday breakfast in Columbus:
Also, it is suggested we eat breakfast in Columbus before departing for MV. Don has a place that will be able to seat us specifically for breakfast if that is okay with everyone.


Overall... this trip should be a great trip for all. Be sure to have your bikes all checked-out and mechanically stable before going. Although we will have a couple trailers going down with us in case something happens to one of the bikes; it certainly would be a good idea to have your bike "up to speed" before going.

5 weeks and counting....!! Can't wait to see all of you then!!

Happy that you are still planning on attending the National Rally Greg. Hope you have a new bike by then, sounds like your bike is a total. Only 32 days until I hit the road to your place along with Denny & Sally. All of the plans sound good to me. Heal fast buddy.

Thanks Gibby. I appreciate it. I have received quite a few calls from some members here; which was nice to hear from them.

I still plan on going to the rally. I cannot think of anything to keep me from it. I might have some soreness yet; but overall I should be fine.

I may be taking a scooter though!

Who knows what I'll have by then. ;)

Thanks for the thought Dave. I wouldn't want to ride anyone else's bike though in case something else would happen. Sometimes I think I was adopted and my real name was Murphy. You might have heard of a set of laws named after that name? Well, sometimes it seems like that is the case.

CJ; no problem with getting back on. I realize the dangers of riding. I like to ride and accept them. I told my kids if anything seriously happens to me to just know I was doing something I loved and wanted to do. ;)

I share the same view exactly Greg. I don't think Id do well sitting on the couch watching game shows all day.

I have to adjust my schedule. I will not be able to leave until Sunday morning due to kids baseball games. So I will see you all down there. If anyone has a change before the time gets here let my know. Maybe we can hook up for the ride.

Not bad at all. We will miss having Stretch and his friend on our trip; but we still have a good group going. We'll catch up with Tim and his friend in MV.

If you think about it... it is hard to get two or three bikes together sometimes; but to get 7 bikes and 11 people to go together on a long trip is nearly impossible.

I am looking forward to have all the Nomads ROAR into Columbus, IN. I will make contact with the local eating places for sandwiches & drinks on Saturday night. It is a bar & grill very biker friendly with smoking room available. The breakfast venue is also a nice sit down place that will accomodate our group, family owned, quick & reasonable. All locations are very close to the motel.

I certainly am fired up about the ride. It is going to be fun.

We've decided to leave the trailer at home, as gas prices will be too costly. Donna will drive her Mustang. Also our 12 year old grandson will be with us. He is a veteran passenger as he rode to northern Minnesota and back with me last year. He's excited to go on the rally this year.

Greg, that sounds like a great trip with a good group. Wish I could go with you it sounds so good.

Really glad you climbed back on board and still plan on making it to MV. I absolutely agree with you told my kids the same thing. My Ex was super supportive even though to this day she worries about me - wouldn't give it up for anything.

Last year when I broke my ankle I almost went nuts when I heard the bikes roar down the road.

To bad you aren't coming down and through the area Bogie. You could certainly join us. It is a really good group of people going.

I'll be going to the rally for certain. Just don't know on what just yet.

My bike wasn't totaled so it will be fixed. Problem is parts take up to 8-weeks to get (for some of them like the saddle-bags and gas tank).

So, they'll put borrowed bags and a trunk on; and I'll just have to have a dented tank. Just hope the bags are somewhat the same color otherwise I'll look like some sort of circus-clown bike!

I may also buy a new bike by then. Who knows. I just don't know yet. It all depends on the deal I can get. They way a few things have been going... that may be a disappointment also. ;)

Maybe I'll just pocket the money; and turn my bike into a rat-bike. What the heck!;D

Good news! Looks like Badger and Otter from Black Hills, SD will be joining the ride down to Maggie Valley. They will stay with us on the night of June 9th, and will ride with us to meet the North Central riders at Normal, IL. The Best Western at Normal, IL was booked, but they will stay at the hotel next door.

Only 11 days (and a wake up) and we'll meet up with the "Northern Squadron."

I gotta go now..... have to scrub the whitewall on ol' BiscuitsNGravy.

Sounds great Dave. The more the merrier.

You might want to see if the hotel in Columbus still has rooms though. Don said Columbus has something going-on at that time and rooms are scarce.

Just wanted to mention it. ;)
