I was thinking of adding a washer or two on the mount to push the floor board tighter against the spring to see if that will keep mine up. Since I installed mine after I bought the bike and had to put them together I think this might work. Maybe I will try this weekend and let you know.

If you remove them, you'll have to get shorter bolts but they're cheap. (You HAVE to have bolts in those holes as that bracket holds the bag guard/mount in place.) Much cleaner look without them, especially if you take the pillion seat and backrest off and go solo.

Thanks for your replies. I can't get rid of them when I have a passenger, but the design on this wasn't very good. Not very much room at all with a passenger on. Even raising them some would probably help a little, but I can't find extentions for this particular bike.
