In fact, there's only two color choices for each model. Compare that to Harley. Kaw seems to be following Henry Ford's example.

the more choices you're offered the more expensive the bike. Remember when cars had to be spec'd out for every little thing....that's why they went to packages instead.

Harley has been successful because they provided the culture that goes with the bike IMHO. This starts with colors, and goes through accessories, apparel, etc. Yamaha seems to be the only one that has kind of caught onto this with the factory customizations and OEM parts that seem to be available, though I have never looked that deep into a one. The Kawasaki accessory list that is in the Fire & Steel book for the Nomad is a joke IMO. If anyone has seen the H-D catalog buyers get when they purchase, it is incredible, I spent hours looking at my friends catalog, and I don't even own one.
Two color choices, limited accessories, and way too much $$$ for the ones that are available from Kawasaki, mean that H-D continues to pickup more riders because you can truly make your bike your own, without custom fabrication. I don't plan on the H-D move, but it has it's appeal from time to time.

Well some of this mass offering of choice is probably costing HD a bundle.....which may help explain why Kawasaki appears to be in a much better financial situation than HD...we will see who makes it through these tough times.
