Gas smell

Since i got my bike out of storage 2 weeks ago. I have a strong gas smell coming from the gas cap after a ride. stinks up the garage. i've put over 500 miles on it and 3 tanks of gas and still smells. Does not matter if i have a full tank or half or low. Is it a bad gas cap and wonder if it would be warentied. Any thoughts.

Should be covered under warranty. Sounds like it isn't sealing good. Unless you have a line underneath that is letting some gas escape.

The gas cap may be defective, or perhaps there is a small leak in the tank somewhere. I'd get it checked out in case it is a leaking tank.

Maybe the rubber seal on the cap has shrunk a bit during storage. You could smear some Vaseline on the seal and install the cap. This won't fix it but it might temporally seal it and let you know if that is where the smell was coming from
