I would like to throw some photos up that display when I post a thread or respond to someone else. Problem is I am not computer savy enough to figure it out. I have an Apple Mac with I-Photo. Lots of good photos to throw up but need some step by step instruction how to get them there. Once they are up can they be changed from time to time?

Check out this thread. It explains a lot about how to do things with examples.
http://www.vulcanbagger.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=5852 A good place to start. Basically you set up an account on photobucket and upload your pictures there, then use the [ IMG] [ /IMG] tags to display the picture with the link to the picture in between the tags.

Photobucket or some other photo hosting site is probably the easiest way to post photos.
