RE: ABS Hard Lowers - On Sale

I posted a link on the VROC site. With over 30000 members you can probably sell a few over there.

What CJ said, how are they mounted? I would assume mounting would be similar for all years.

OK looked at the photos on your website which showed that they were hung from the top bar and zip tied at one location on the bottom. Would a strong wind from behind (while parked obviously) cause stress on the upper portion? Any way to add attachment points on the top as well? Seems like they would rattle causing stress at the two "hangers".

RE: ABS Hard Lowers - On Sale

For an update and few answers. I am working about 14 hours a day on new designs and about ready to start cutting the next set of molds. I get a closer I will post some 3D CAD renditions to get you all excited. I have to get very creative when I use Google SketchUp instead of SolidWorks CAD program and do by hand what a 5 axis cnc or 3D model maker printer could do. Other words high tech low budget!

As for the questions about the lowers that I have for the 98-00 models. They are tough. I road them hard last year around Michigan and they worked great. Like most things I design I try to work on the KISS principal. (keep it simple stupid) I have to remind myself constantly or like some engineers it is easy to end up out in left field.

The lowers do clip in place very snugly to the top bar and I thought I would need a tie strap to hold it there but never needed it. So I eliminated the tie strap holder at the top. And yes all it takes is the one tie strap at the bottom. Best to use the softer plastic than brittle nylon. Wind, pounding rain and rocks had no effect. From taking photos, I'm glad I used extra clear coats. The bug juice sure can eat on the finish. Frankly I never installed the cold weather kit on mine. The air flow is very comfortable summer and late fall. And riding in Northern Michigan running back roads 60-65 mph I got 44+ mpg. Highway did change any, the faster I go the more gas a Nomad uses...

Thanks for the interest. And thanks for kick starting me!

RE: ABS Hard Lowers - On Sale

PS: I forgot. The new designs are a lot like the Voyager, more sophisticated but keeping the KISS principal in mind. No more clues until next post.

RE: ABS Hard Lowers - On Sale

Just out of curiosity...what is your production capacity? How many sets of these can you turn out in a day?

Once you get everything nailed down, you should advertise on the "other" Kawasaki forums and peddle them on eBay or something. I think you've got the greatest thing here since sliced bread.

Depending on how successful it is and how much you can product, you might consider making these for other bikes too.
