Used Nomads in Canada
are really hard to find. My good friend got hooked on riding 3 years ago (I will say at this point he is old, really, really old, in fact, older than dirt ), and has been riding a 1300 Yamaha Tourer. A couple of nights ago he finally rode my Ruby and I rode his Yamaha. The Yamaha is the most uncomfortable riding bike I've ever been on. The handle bars are wide and low so you ride leaning forward with your arms extended and 5 miles down the road, my back and arms were hurting. The nacelle is set on top of the bars so there is no way to put risers on. He could not believe the comfort of the Nomad compared to the Yamaha and was hooked that fast.
Needless to say, he went looking for a Nomad. Found 3 or 4 in Canada, a couple in the Northern US, and lots in the Southern US, mainly in Texas and Florida. He has made a deal on a 2006 sitting in Fort Worth, Texas and is waiting for the dealer to crate and ship the Nomad to Montana, where he will pick it up and bring it across the border. I don't know if we tend to keep our Nomads longer up here or if there isn't many sold but there seems to be none around this area for sale at all. My friends name is Charlie and I have him registered on the forum so hopefully he will show up here soon and introduce himself. As for the old comment, he'll get that one. I would imagine that their are just more bike owners where you can ride year round.

I would imagine Canada having 1/10th the population of the USA, along with the shorter riding season is a big part of it. Like she said, most used ones are in the southern states, where a 12 month riding season is not uncommon.

And you can usually find a better deal in the states as well, Mine is origanally from Alabama. I had it shipped, and picked it up in Toronto.

Used Nomads in Canada
Well, there was a nice '05 Nomad sitting at my dealer here in Ontario.
Their internet ad read "one owner, blue/silver, mint condition, 239,100 kms, warranty to June 2010, $7500" And it sold quickly, too. It was mine, traded it in for a Voyager. :) Garry

No, I didn't live on it. I have a Drifter that I rode while the Nomad was resting, Drifter has 210,000 on it.
Great bikes, eh! Garry

When it comes time to sell mine, I think I am driving to Canada. I have family in Michigan. Seems like we could a lot better deal on resale in Canada.

The Nomad has only got 15,000 miles and he picked it up for $8,900. The dealer will crate and ship it for $895, to the border and Charlie will pick it up from there. Since we live only 30 miles north of the border, it's an easy pick-up point for him.
239,000 and 210,00 kms? WOW. I'm impressed. Any major problems with that kind of mileage on 2 Vulcans? |

There has been a few out here (around the Edmonton area) for sale. A good online source for used bikes is Kijiji. The closest dealer has a 2009 black demo with less than 900 km for a good price. You have to be patient and look around, although I admit the Nomad is not the most popular bike for sale, less of them than others.

there are also a few for sale here in the lower mainland. Craigslist has a few.
I was at the local motorcycle mall here in Langley yesterday and the H.D. dealer was having a demo day and blowing out his stock of new and used bikes. He had an '05 blue and silver Nomad, with 54,000 kms. {33,500 miles} fully serviced and with good rubber. Looked to be in nice shape. Selling it for approx. $4900...[$4500 US} It's going to auction for $5300. on Monday if it doesn't sell {today}Sunday I'm seeing more and more Nomads on the road around here, all the time.

CJ; I did Ok with the shipping with my bike, it was about $800.00 and the freight company did a bit of damage on the bike while unloading it. They gave me $1800.00 for the cost of the damage, and I had the fairing fixed and painted for $500.00.
There are a couple small scratches that they did elsewhere on the bike that Im living with.

The Drifter ran well until 190k, I turned on my electric vest and driving lights one cold night and fried the stator and a bunch of wires. In my search for parts I found a complete low mileage engine for $800 so I just replaced the whole motor. Good for another 190k now, I figger. :) Both bikes were stock, no intake or exhaust mods, always ran Kawasaki oil and filters. I hope the Voyager does as well, only 34k on it so far. Garry
