Timing marks not lining up
My 2011 voyager with 52k miles seems to not want to allow the upper cam timing marks to perfectly align with the cylinder head upper surface.
I have shifted the cam chain one tooth, all it does is make the marks not line up in the other direction. Presently the rear cyclinder marks are set up with the exhaust side cam mark just slightly below the cylinder edge. Intake mark slightly higher. After installing the tensioner and rotating the engine it seems to want to stay in this slightly off position. Could it be that by not having engine oil feeding the tensioner that is where it remains off? If oil forces the guide a bit tighter on the chain this shift might self correct? I suppose the chain may have stretched or the guides may have worn causing this to happen as well. The service manual does not provide any information on this situation. Any advice/help would be appreciated Yes, I could dump more money into new chains and guides but that seems unreasonable at 52k miles. Login or Register to Remove Ads |
