HELP MAIN FUSE GOES OUT

Twice this summer I have been riding along and my electric system has shut down. Each time my main fuse (30) has burned out I relace it and everything works great. I can't seem to find a short causing this and neither has my dealer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 2005 Nomad

HELP MAIN FUSE GOES OUT

What sort of extras do you have on your bike? Got to be an overload causing it to blow. Other than that you may have a short in one of your wires and when it gets jarred a certain way it causes an overload and blows the fuse.

Need more info. What have you added if anything? I would suspect add ons first. There has to be a big fat dead short somewhere.

If the bike is still 100% stock, then, every wire on the bike must be wiggled and jiggled.

If that is the case knowing what year bike this is, and about the miles on it might help tell whether or not it could be a chaffing problem, which is well known where the main harness turns down behind cly 2.

The nylock ties have release tabs on them, not that it did me any good, since I cut mine before I noticed the release tabs. You could turn the key on and wiggle and jiggle there for starters.

Now looking at the top of that harness is useless, since it might be the bottom all worn to bare wires.

Check the wiring to the idle control solenoids. If those short, they will blow that fuse.

HELP MAIN FUSE GOES OUT

Check the battery connections under the seat as well, the seat could be pressing down on something causing a short.

HELP MAIN FUSE GOES OUT

I had that same problem a few years ago. Problem was the main wire harness was laying on the back rocker cover and it had worn into it causing a wire to short and blow the 30amp fuse.

This would happen and then I could replace the fuse and maybe ride it for a whole day or just when I would put it in gear it would blow.... Check the harness and also where it goes into the headlight bucket.
